Father's House Blog
Uganda Visit
Wed 25th November, 4.17pm
On Tuesday December 1st, a Father’s House team will be flying from Heathrow to Entebbe to team up with four great friends of FHT in Uganda for a week.
On our first day there, Wednesday 2nd, we will be getting in a boat and crossing part of Lake Victoria to visit an island where about 15-20 pastors will gather for a morning conference on the Father heart of God. These pastors work among the poorest people on the earth and face the toxic consequences of fatherlessness every day. It will be our honour and privilege to teach, encourage and pray for them in the morning. Please pray for them as they bring the Father’s love to the fatherless on the islands.
In the afternoon we will be visiting other islands, in particular the fishing communities where there is terrible poverty. The percentage that’s HIV/AIDS positive is no lower than 65% and maybe as high as 85%. These islands are dominated by witchcraft and are full of darkness and despair. Young girls sell their bodies for unprotected sex for the equivalent of 75p. It is quite simply heart-breaking. But we believe that the Father has a special affection for these his children so we are going to go and hold and pray for those who need a touch of Abba Father’s love there.
On the Thursday (Dec 3rd), we will be in Mildmay hospital in the morning. We will be visiting AIDS patients and talking to and encouraging the staff. In the afternoon we are going to go and pray for those who are really sick and who’ve been brought in from the islands en route to Mildmay. They are in a halfway house run by Kathleen Burns, a nurse working for AIM (Africa Inland Mission), and a great friend of ours at FHT. We will pray for people and help paint the house.
Friday (Dec 4th) we transfer to Mto Myoni to the Father heart retreat centre run by our dear friends and partners, Winette and Ingrid. We will run a Father heart conference on the Saturday and Sunday for the staff from Mbale in Jenga. Tiffany Vale, who was my P.A. at St Andrew’s Chorleywood for 18 months, works in Mbale so she will be joining us for the week as well as the weekend.
On Sunday (Dec 6th), we transfer back to Kampala. On the Monday (Dec 7th) we are ministering to a group of about 25 Christian NGO workers from across Uganda. This will be an all-day conference. In the evening we are hoping to see the Archbishop of Uganda.
Tuesday December 8th we return home on the overnight flight, arriving back Wednesday morning.
We really ask for your prayers. Winette, Ingrid, Kathleen and Tiffany are joining the four-person team from the Fathers House Trust. They are working week in and week out in Uganda on the front line of fatherlessness. Please especially pray for them.
But we do really welcome your prayer support for all of us as we seek to fulfil part of our mandate at the Father’s House Trust which is to fight poverty, especially the poverty that directly results from fatherlessness.
Thank you so much.
